The new year is off to a great start. Busy too! The kids started the year off with Broomball on January 1st. Bug lost a toenail, but there were no broken bones. Yay! The Man just turned 16 and Bug is now 18. Where does the time go?! For Man's birthday, we went to the mall for Mongolian BBQ (as usual). I tried to talk him into steak or seafood but he wanted to stick with his annual pilgrimmage to the mall; a place he will never venture into unless Mongolian BBQ is included in the shopping spree. Bug had slightly more expensive tastes and we ended up at the Lazy Dog Cafe with Scott and the Velascos, complete with a Dog Bowl Sundae for the birthday girl at meal's end. And of course we all had to use the restrooms just to check out the little "sluice" faucets. haha Mo is going in for his surgery next week. We are not looking forward to his being a conehead, as he is normally so hyperactive. Have you ever seen that little cartoon dog that runs, hops, skips and slobbers all over the place? Well, that's Mo. Zip, on the other hand, will probably love to see Mo in the cone and away from him. They love to play but Zip can only take so much before he's plum tuckered out. Bug, Nerf and I saw Sherlock Holmes on Christmas and really liked it. Then I took Man to Avatar, which was a visual treat, even though we didn't opt for the 3-D version of the movie. I still want to see Up in the Air and It's Complicated (which Bug saw without me). Oh, and The Hurt Locker, which should arrive in the mail from Netflix today. Yay! I also rewatched Memento this week, which I got on Blu Ray, and I finally was able to see the "new" Wallace and Gromit short, A Matter of Loaf and Death. Quite dark for claymation movie. haha Tonight I'm supposed to go with Abe to Disneyland to eat dinner at Blue Bayou. I've only been there once before (in all these years!) on an extremely rainy day. Deja vu. haha I'm going to skip lunch so that I can order a Monte Cristo sandwich and not feel too extremely guilty tonight. It would be even better if I had time to hit the gym with Bug before dinner. I have been Dinner Dean the past two weeks at Logos while Shannon is out on maternity leave. I feel like it's been a long time since I've done this. Poor kids. :p We did have fun the first week with Cup Stomp and backward night last week, discovering new palindromes. Tomorrow we are looking at Dreams for MLK day. Looks like I need more pics on here. I'll post some soon. I'll also have to update my progress through the Newsweek top 100 books. Slow going lately, with the holidays, but I am once again reading avidly (when I'm not too busy watching movies and organizing cupboards and closets).
